Ricola and ROOMZ: a long-standing Swiss partnership
Ricola has relied on ROOMZ meeting room solutions for more than nine years to support an efficient workplace experience across its offices in Switzerland.
Today, the installation continues to run with outstanding reliability, with devices in operation since 2017 and only minimal support required over the years. The wireless setup has helped Ricola maintain a simple and low-maintenance system for managing meeting spaces.
This long-term collaboration is built on trust, performance, and shared Swiss values of quality and reliability, recently reaffirmed with a new three-year subscription extension.
Pilatus Aircraft and ROOMZ: a long-term trusted partnership renewed until 2028
Since 2017, Pilatus Aircraft Ltd, the renowned Swiss aircraft manufacturer, has relied on ROOMZ to optimize its offices.
Headquartered in Switzerland and globally recognized for their world-class aircraft, Pilatus chose ROOMZ to bring the same level of efficiency and precision to its workplace management.
The partnership began in 2016, when Pilatus was looking for a better way to manage meeting room bookings. Like many large organizations, they were increasingly frustrated with manual processes such as printing weekly schedules.
Today, with 57 ROOMZ displays installed across its facilities in different locations, the system runs flawlessly, helping teams find and reserve meeting spaces while significantly improving workplace efficiency.
What truly speaks to the success of our collaboration is Pilatus’ continued trust in ROOMZ: they have just renewed their commitment for another three years, extending our partnership until at least 2028!
Remarkably, the displays installed back in 2017 are still functioning perfectly today and Pilatus has chosen to simply renew the licenses of these same devices, highlighting the outstanding durability of ROOMZ technology.
We are proud to support Pilatus in modernizing their work environment, powered by Swiss innovation and shared values of reliability and excellence.
Smart management of phone booths: lastminute.com chooses myROOMZ
lastminute.com has been a European leader in online travel for over 20 years. For its headquarters in Chiasso, Switzerland, the company chose myROOMZ to optimise the use of its 27 phone booths.
Finding space in a multi-floor office environment
Stefano Poli, End User Service Team Leader at lastminute.com, was given a challenge in 2024. How to make it easier for the 450 employees spread across two buildings – one with seven floors and the other with three – to find an available phone booth when needed.
Stefano explained: “These small spaces, used for short calls and confidential exchanges, are important, yet their occupancy status changes constantly. While we encourage our people to keep their step count up, traipsing around from floor to floor trying to find somewhere private was a waste of people’s time. We looked at a few suppliers with different offerings, before deciding ROOMZ had exactly what we needed.
Instead of displaying traditional floor plans, lastminute.com configured myROOMZ to show a real-time list of all phone booths along with their occupancy status.
Each resource includes a clear indication of its floor and a complementary note such as “in front of Caracas meeting room”, helping employees navigate more easily through the buildings and improving overall wayfinding.
.
.
An inspiring office concept to manage phone booths
To take the concept even further, the phone booths were named after partner airlines such as Air Europa, Iberia, and KLM. This reference to the travel industry strengthens the workplace identity and helps with easy identification. It also demonstrates how myROOMZ can flexibly adapt to existing office structures and address specific workspace management needs.
Thanks to this smart configuration, lastminute.com successfully met a key challenge: providing employees with instant visibility on space availability according to their needs throughout the day, while leveraging collaboration across their work environments.
Stefano added: “We have had a super positive reaction from our people since introducing ROOMZ, 18 months ago. As an international company, with teams spread across the globe, being able to make our Google Hangout calls privately is really important. So having a system where you can grab a booth without wasting time, or even leaving your desk until you have to, can only be a good thing.”
10 years of ROOMZ: from the Kindle e-book tablet to global workplace innovation
It all started with a simple but innovative idea: simplify meeting room management, which was often complicated and costly due to wired display installations.
In 2015, Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux, then MBA students at EPFL Lausanne, turned this idea into a project. To design a simple and energy-efficient booking display, Roger drew inspiration from his Kindle e-book, which he always carried on his travels.
The first project at ETH Zurich, which was seeking a wireless solution to equip 500 rooms across five historic buildings, quickly revealed the potential of the solution: an e-ink display, easy to install and low-power, a first on the market.
ROOMZ quickly captured the Swiss market. The arrival of Fabien Moine marked a strategic turning point, combining brand structuring with international sales expansion. New sensors for desks and phone booths were introduced, enabling smarter, connected offices.
In just ten years, ROOMZ has transformed an ingenious idea into a global solution that meets the needs of new ways of working.
“Behind every ROOMZ success is a passionate team and engaged customers. Ten years of collective effort dedicated to making technology simpler and more sustainable.” – Roger Meier, CEO.
Digital classroom management at the Music School of Sarnen: Zero maintenance since 2018
Back in 2018, the Municipal Administration of Sarnen equipped the city’s music school with 10 ROOMZ displays to manage its classrooms digitally.
The goal was clear: make classroom bookings easier and improve visibility for teachers and students by eliminating paper schedules. At the same time, the solution needed to avoid added complexity or maintenance overhead.
More than seven years later, the results speak for themselves:
not a single support ticket
not one display replaced
zero technical issues
The displays are still running flawlessly, just like on day one.
This remarkable longevity highlights one of ROOMZ’s core strengths: true zero-maintenance operation.
Thanks to wireless installation, no operative system and low power consumption, the displays continue to manage all music school classrooms efficiently, with no effort required from the IT team.
Just like a well-composed symphony, ROOMZ coordinates every classroom schedule with consistency and harmony.

1 DISPLAY PURCHASED = 2 TREES PLANTED
ROOMZ is developing a carbon compensation programme with Tree-Nation
If you have known ROOMZ for a while, then you know that the sustainability aspect of our solutions is an essential part of our identity.
To achieve this, we recently entered into a partnership with the international organisation Tree-Nation, which has planted nearly 33 million trees since 2006*.
From 1 June 2024, two trees will be planted for every screen sold. This reforestation campaign makes it possible to offset the emissions generated during the production and use of our products and contributes to long-term carbon sequestration.
What are the benefits for our customers?
By choosing ROOMZ products, our customers not only acquire an energy-efficient technical solution, are also make an active contribution to protecting the planet:
– Reduction of carbon emissions: the carbon footprint of each ROOMZ display is offset over its entire lifetime.
– Contribution to biodiversity: our activities take place in tropical areas, where are the habitat of many plant and animal species.
– Supporting local economies: these ecological initiatives create jobs and sustainable resources for local communities.
*Since May 2025, ROOMZ has renewed its commitment to sustainability by continuing its partnership with Tree-Nation. We no longer plant trees for each screen sold, but now for every visit to our website. This initiative is part of the Net Zero Website label, which aims to offset the carbon footprint of web activity.
A look back at an incredible experience at ISE 2024!
ROOMZ presents its unique concept at Europe’s largest audiovisual show – ISE 2024
As you may have seen from our previous communications, in January, ROOMZ exhibited for the first time at ISE in Barcelona. With its excellent overview of the latest advancements and trends in the fields of systems integration and unified communications, ISE is the international meeting place considered key by all professionals in our industry.
Once again, this year the level was set very high, with nearly 74,000 visitors from over 162 countries – an incredible exhibition for ROOMZ and a great way to raise our brand awareness!
We developed a completely new booth specifically for the event, showcasing our entire ecosystem for every kind of workspace, while retaining our green identity, the pioneering concept that drives our values, and the way our products are manufactured.
The 4-day event showed that the market for workspace management solutions is still expanding, and that analytics are becoming an increasingly important part of corporate office design strategies.
The ROOMZ solution clearly caught the interest of the visitors; its wireless features, high security, and one-step solution were the most highly valued design features.
In addition to being a trade exhibition, ISE provided the ROOMZ team with a global market overview, and acts as an incubator for our next strategic action plan.

As Willy Kurmann enthused: “I am very proud and extremely excited to be taking up my new position as CTO in the ROOMZ team. I would like to thank Roger Meier and the entire ROOMZ’ team for their trust in me. HDI Global and the new ways of working: a success story
From a traditional office-based organization to flexible offices
HDI Global, an international company specializing in liability insurance, sought a modern solution to manage its Swiss workspaces for nearly 120 employees.
> INITIAL REQUIREMENT
Previously spread over nine floors, HDI aimed to bring the teams together on a single floor to encourage collaboration between departments. This new work organization required a shift from a traditional single workplace location to flexible desks.
> THE ROOMZ ANSWER
By choosing the ROOMZ ecosystem to manage its desks, phone boxes and meeting rooms, HDI was able to implement a modern and flexible working environment in a short period of time.
“Having ROOMZ in place really enabled us to work in hybrid teams, have different working models and operate in a way far different than I could have ever imagine. “
Marc Luginbühl
CEO – HDI Global Switzerland
Testimonial from the first ROOMZ customer, ETH Zurich
Seven years after the installation of the first screens, ETH Zurich looks back on its experience with ROOMZ.
There are now 800 screens are installed in the classrooms of the prestigious Swiss university.
Armin Brunner, Head of ITS Infrastructure, looks back on his experience with ROOMZ and on how the screens evolved over time.
> POWER CONSUMPTION
As ROOMZ’ first client, we can highlight the extremely low power consumption and outstanding autonomy of the batteries of the displays.
Back in 2016, when we installed our first 400 displays at ETHZ, ROOMZ estimated a battery autonomy of 2 years. This has not only been achieved, but the typical autonomy of a display in our installation is exceeding 4 years.
The battery replacement is easy and typically takes less than 1 minute by screen.
> DURABILITY OF THE DISPLAYS
400 displays have been installed in 2016 – we have now in total 800 displays installed. Out of theses 800 displays, we only had 10 defect displays (0.26% or 1.6 defect display per year).
After 7 years of operation, the displays show almost no visible degradation, and we can expect them to last for another 10 years.
> MAINTENANCE
And as the displays have no operating system, we have ZERO software maintenance on them – they just work.
UNESCO impressed by the eco-friendly features of ROOMZ
UNESCO sought an innovative solution to modernize the management of its meeting rooms at its headquarters in Paris. The environmentally sensitive organization wanted to use a low power technology.

Meeting rooms can be booked by employees looking to collaborate face-to-face, while with ROOMZ there is also the option of booking individual workspaces. ROOMZ gives us the tools to manage this new way of working,” summed up Ian Crosby, Sunderland City Council’s Head of Facilities and Security.

We launched the ROOMZ Display in 2016. It very quickly grew into a real market hit. We have intensively worked on the further development of our display over the past few months. Requests and critiques from users have been considered during the development.
The new display is available now with a new 2.4/5 GHz chip set. This makes it around 40% faster to operate. This improvement especially impacts the “Update”, “Instant Book” and “Release” functions. The upgrade improves user-friendliness and makes the display even more energy efficient.

ROOMZ now present on the British market with the distributor Midwich
ROOMZ, the former Swiss startup, convinces more and more markets with its display of the same name for room reservation: After Switzerland, ROOMZ penetrated further markets. The solution is now distributed in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Africa. Now with the Midwich Group, ROOMZ will enter the British market.
400 convinced business customers opt for ROOMZ
When the company was founded as Setza SA back in 2015, the founding duo, Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux, had already completed plenty of preliminary work. In close collaboration with their first client, ETH Zurich, the two engineers developed an easy-to-install central room booking system with wireless displays.
The careful preparation for market launch, including establishing the sales & marketing department, lasted until 2017.
And then one thing followed another: The company was renamed to ROOMZ in the same year, and ALSO was recruited as the exclusive Swiss distributor of ROOMZ displays. The broad market resonance was proven by customers including ETZ Zurich, Pilatus and Bank am Bellevue.
In 2018, the visionaries launched the new ROOMZ Sensor and, together with ALSO, expanded into the German and Austrian markets as well as with Sidev in the French market.
Highpoints of the current year 2019 included the new webportal, the partnership with the panEuropean company, ITANCIA present in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Africa, and the 400th satisfied ROOMZ customer.
We have grown from three employees at the beginning of 2017, to 12 today.
ROOMZ – a success story, to be continued.
Pioneering partnership between ROOMZ and ITANCIA
ITANCIA began in 1991 with sales of ecologically recycled business telephones and today also offers repair services and logistics services. The company is active around the world. The partnership now also opens the markets for ROOMZ in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Africa and the Benelux countries – our displays are now going out into the world.
ROOMZ impresses with its product and service
Fast, easy and trouble-free – is an apt summary of the expectations placed on the ordered, installed and commissioned ROOMZ displays by COO / CIO Holger Schultes (until 2020). His unreserved satisfaction speaks in our favor.
In 2022, Bellevue Group made another major change: the migration of their ROOMZ system from On Premise to Cloud. Philipp Huber, System Engineer at Bellevue Asset Management (a Bellevue Group subsidiary) was in charge of the project, which progressed smoothly.
Innovative “must have” for intelligent workplace and room usage solutions
The ROOMZ Display was the first trick, and is now being following by the second: The new Room Sensor is the sensible addition to the successful Display. Both solutions work together as a team: The Display records new and updates existing room reservations, while the Sensor monitors whether the room is used according to how it was booked.
Common nuisance: Overbooked rooms
Meeting rooms and conference rooms are frequently occupied exactly when one needs them. Therefore, many rooms are simply preventively blocked – and remain unused. The new Sensor counteracts this grievance. It notices when a room goes unused and then releases it again. The sophisticated algorithms and additional room climate functions boost efficiency, improve internal procedures and increase employee satisfaction.
Also available for workspaces starting 2019
The Desk Sensor will also soon be available. With its support, the flexible use of workspaces in the “shared desk” sector will become more reliable and more effective.
roomz.io = ROOMZ Intelligent Offices
These steps move ROOMZ away from individual products towards intelligent workplace solutions. This new orientation is also reflected in our new website under the existing domain address: roomz.io. The top-level domain, .io, sums up our expertise in a nutshell. roomz.io stands for ROOMZ Intelligent Offices.
ROOMZ expands its market presence with ALSO Deutschland
ROOMZ has rapidly developed into a leading market player in Switzerland in the area of room management. With Thomas Freiherr, ROOMZ Sales Manager Germany, we are now venturing across the border. Thomas Freiherr had this to say: “We are pleased to start with the powerful ALSO reseller network so as to convince many companies of the advantages of optimal room and workspace usage with ROOMZ.”
Simone Blome-Schwitzki, media spokesperson for the ALSO Deutschland Management adds: “Meeting room displays and management systems from ROOMZ are a logical and very innovative expansion of our product range for the smart, digital conference room. They round off our portfolio of collaboration and video conferencing solutions perfectly.”
ROOMZ meets the high standards of isolutions, the smart work pioneer
When it comes to the digital workplace, the leading Microsoft business partner, isolutions, is blazing a pioneering trail: the technology cracks expertly support companies through the digital transformation. This lends even greater weight to their choosing ROOMZ – it is this recognition that fills us with pride.
ETH Zurich goes for ROOMZ
The optimal use and efficient management of rooms is more than merely a matter of weighing the costs and benefits.
For ETH Zurich, intelligent room usage also means creating the ideal conditions to enable professors, doctorate candidates and students to make the most of their resources. ROOMZ is making a lasting contribution to this aim.

Setza SA becomes ROOMZ SA
The same thing happened to us as with companies such as UHU, Tempo, Post-it, Jeep and many others that launched a successful product: our product name became a byword for the company itself. And that is a good thing! It ultimately shows us that we picked a fitting product name that is pleasing to our customers, and that our company is thoroughly identified with our product ROOMZ.
We want to do justice to that, and not just by half-measures, but entirely: we are renaming our company to ROOMZ SA and are thereby also committing ourselves in name to our popular reservations tool, which is meanwhile in use at over 100 companies.
Everything else shall remain the same: a passionate team full of enthusiasm for innovations designed to help you better handle your daily work – easily, efficiently and with style.
ALSO lists ROOMZ
«ROOMZ is miles ahead of the competition…»
ROOMZ, our digital reservation and administration tool for rooms in use at leading companies, universities and public institutions also convinced those in charge at ALSO Schweiz AG, the leading Swiss IT logistics services provider. Effectively immediately, ALSO is adding ROOMZ to its portfolio – as the exclusive Swiss distributor.
Why was ALSO convinced by ROOMZ? Erich Steiner, Head of Division Solution and Member of the Executive Board at ALSO Schweiz AG had this to say in O-Ton: “ROOMZ is an innovative Swiss product from a Swiss company that is miles ahead of the competition. As the exclusive Swiss distributor we look forward to working together with ROOMZ and implementing the clearly defined channel strategy.”
As a startup, the partnership with ALSO represents an important and confirming milestone in our still early company history. We greatly appreciate the collaboration with ALSO as the exclusive distributor of ROOMZ. This offers us the opportunity to establish ourselves more widely in the world of work that is being increasingly shaped by UCC and new collaboration tools.
Fabien Moine begins at Setza
Welcome Fabien Moine!
As head of sales and marketing, Fabien Moine will take on the marketing of our reservation and administration solution ROOMZ, a move that represents a real transfer coup for us.
The issues of ICT and UC have accompanied Fabien Moine throughout his career: He began as head of sales at Combridge AG, and later became the area manager for business customers at Orange, the corporate customer department for SME. Most recently, he established business development and partner management for Plantronics in Switzerland.
We are very pleased that our visionary solution and our passion moved the ICT expert to switch from a large corporation to a startup, which he explained as follows: “I was immediately excited about the solution ROOMZ from Setza the first time I saw it. In the new working world, which is shaped by UCC and new collaboration tools, the efficient administration of shared work rooms is taking on an ever more significant role. To be able to help design the sales and marketing from the start and to successfully position Setza in the market represents a unique opportunity, one that I am really looking forward to.”
Fabien Moine is in charge of business development for Setza domestically and later also internationally, for sales and marketing, as well as for establishing and managing strategic partners, resellers and key accounts. Welcome to the power team Fabien Moine!
“ROOMZ” hits the nail on the head
Setza SA hired the branding agency, Asphalte Design, to develop a simple website in December 2015. The creative talents expressed their concerns about the name “Setza” during the kick-off meeting. Especially for Swiss-French speakers, the “tz” in the word is difficult to pronounce, and sounds rather harsh. They proposed providing naming proposals along with the design concepts. Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux both immediately agreed, the two engineers were glad to be able to focus on their core competencies.
Just one look was all it took for all to agree
The creative director, Yannick Macheret, presented the design concepts and three product names with a logo a few weeks later. ROOMZ was one of these proposed names. The designers combined the word “room” with the “Z” from “Setza”. The two founders took one look and both nodded in agreement: “That’s it! ROOMZ is the perfect brand name for our product family, offering unlimited potential, such as with ROOMZ Server, ROOMZ Displays, etc.” And that is how ROOMZ™ was born.
Sleek logo with a certain something
The logo the designers presented also convinced the company founders. “The logo consisting of only letters is lean, quickly recognizable, clear, comprehensible and with no frills – just like our modular product family,” praised Roger Meier, who went on to point out a sophisticated detail: “The two letters ‘OO’ are represented as semi circles to symbolize two meeting rooms divided by a corridor.” Simplicity was also chosen in accordance with the corporate philosophy when it came to the corporate colors: the black and white logo matches the display screen. The only thing remaining to be discussed was the supplemental corporate color for use in designing advertising materials. The color “Fabien-Blau”* was ultimately chosen.
* The two founders did not know at the time that their future head of marketing and sales would be named Fabien.
Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux found Setza
Putting an end to meeting room chaos
Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux got to know one another during a program they both completed as part of their Executive MBA at the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). During one of their many discussions, the two engineers talked about the widespread problem with the allocation of meeting rooms: both had repeatedly experienced standing helplessly in the corridor with customers for upcoming meetings because no suitable meeting room was available. Such situations are unpleasant and time-consuming for all involved, besides being embarrassing for the person hosting the meeting.
Signage system developed with customers
As part of their program, Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux developed a concept for a simple, battery-free, room signage system. They approached the ETH Zurich, which was planning a similar concept as a pilot project for the entire campus with 500 rooms to be provided with signage. The ETHZ’s intentions were frustrated by the fact that only cabled or radio-controlled solutions were available. In close collaboration with those in charge at the ETHZ, Roger Meier and Patrick Terreaux developed a product with specifications customized to meet their preferences and requirements. The challenge was to equip the entire campus with wireless, optically pleasing 8-inch displays that are connected to the existing WLAN.
Not FOR the customer, but WITH the customer
During the course of this pilot project, the two engineers entered into discussions with other companies to identify their needs. “In contrast to the ETHZ, corporate customers wanted to be able to also make reservations on their mobile displays,” explained Roger Meier. They upgraded their project with the desired function. “The simplicity of our product was, and remains, essential to us. It should be easy to install and to use. That’s why we teamed up with customers during the development and consciously avoided over-engineering.”
Company founded on a solid basis
Roger Meier (*1974) and Patrick Terreaux (*1982) founded Setza SA in May 2015. This was preceded by a great deal of preliminary work. Patrick Terreaux looked back: “We both had families and responsibilities. So we carefully weighed up the risk factors and excluded as many as we possibly could before founding the company.” The company name was rather a product of chance: the two founders looked for a free domain with few letters. The name also should not be too limiting, because there was great potential when it came to the product’s range of application. “It’s not just a matter of room signage, but far more complex topics such as the optimization of office spaces using sensor technology, for example,” confirmed Roger Meier, and Patrick Terreaux added: “The future will be exciting. We have gotten off to a good start and still have far to go.”
